I personally don't understand the lowish rating. I love here in dodge city and its the closest to olive garden or steakhouse. I likes the menu espe ially compared to applebys which I despise. I don't know about beer or anything like that. I are a chicken caeser salad while my kids had steak bites. They seemed to enjoy with no complaints. My husband tried a half rack of ribs and seemed to enjoy. I do prefer salads myself and it was definitely enjoyable throughout. Plenty of croutons and cheese. Even the chicken was moist and good. I recommend what we bought at least. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The people who were eating were kinda stuffy. Our waitress checked us three times and didn't rush us. I actually enjoyed myself. For a mom of two the experience was very pleasant.

Yuck... Help was good, food ... Not so much. Don't know where they buy their beef... But it tasted like it was on the road for a month... Hard to understand this being BEEF COUNTRY. Salad was as stale as the buns. Dated interior and only (3) beers on tap? Two of them.... You guessed it.... Bud light... Coors light... And some unknown. You serve steaks! Get a good beer selection. Help was good... That's why you get 2 stars.

By the commercials I have seen for Montana Mike's, I was expecting a place similar to the par of Texas road house, or salt grass steakhouse, also because of the comparative prices. When walking in, the hostess was at the hostess stand staring straight down at her phone. We stood there for about 30 seconds before she noticed us. I didn't know what to say... It was awkward. When heading to the table I noticed all sorts of trash and food on the floor. Another bad sign. The waitress arrived in a very timely manner and was very friendly. That was nice. The menu states the steaks come with one side and a salad, so I tell her I will have French fries with the steak I ordered. This confused her, she said "is that it?" And I said "yes?" A bit puzzled. She said "no salad? just two orders or fries?" "No, I still want the salad". I'm not quite sure how that was confusing. She didn't ask me how I wanted my steak cooked, so as she was leaving I told her medium. My husband had the same. Both our steaks were raw, and overlooked at the same time....(I guess that averages to medium..) Not sure how that happened. One side was like boot leather, the other was still mooing... I had to ask for a Pepsi refill after having an empty glass for a while. The place was not busy, there was one other table of patrons that I could see. I won't be going back. Oh, I also wrote this entire thing on the toilet... My stomach did not agree with the food either.

Both food and service were mediocre. I would not recommend this restaurant for many reasons. The first is poor service. We told our waitress and the hostess that we had 7 adults and 2 kids eating with us 10 times before anyone figured it out. (Note: the restaurant was NOT busy. Huge red flag.) it was annoying. Our waitress was very slow. Slow with taking orders, pouring drinks, serving food, etc. no one knew what was going on or how to do their jobs. It was disappointing. The restaurant has horribly tacky and outdated furnishings. Very dirty. All the decorations are filthy and dusty. My meal was mediocre. The shrimp were okay but their was a lot of nasty sauce on them. The rolls were stale. The ribeye was okay but a shitty cut with tons of fat and grissle. My nephew liked his grilled cheese sandwich but puked after trying the okra. :( I will never go back.

The location is right in downtown which is a good location for a small town. However, this restaurant was not the best small town steak restaurant I have been too. First off the restaurant was not very well cleaned. The decorations at the entrance and throughout were covered in dust. The tables themselves smelled like they had been cleaned with old dish water. These things alone were very off putting. If the dinning room smells bad and is dirty I only wonder what the kitchen looks like. We were large party for a Sunday visit, but the restaurant was not very business. That being said our service was extreme slow and untimely. The whole table was not served at the same time. Four of the adults and three children were served 5 minutes later than the three. When you go to a restaurant you expect to all be served at the same time so one persons food does not get cold while waiting for another's to be served. The appetizers that were ordered came out at the same time as the meal which defeats the purpose of an appetizer. We had high hopes for the taste of the food being that this was one of my family's favorite place to eat in Dodge City, KS. The food was ok at best. The rolls tasted like they were three days old. The Fireside shrimp tasted like the shrimp was from a frozen from a bag, in top of that there was way to much sauce added. The Cajan Shrimp steak was not very flavorful the sauce was not spicy as the menu said. The others from out of town also said the food they had was just ok. I will try other restaurants in town before trying this place again.

Went to this restaurant with my girlfriend and her parents tonight. They were obviously understaffed due to the fact that it took about ten minutes before a hostess asked us how many were in our party. Almost every table that was empty still had cups and plates from the people that say there before and the tables were it cleaned when they were needed for another party. When we were ready to order, our waiter told us that the restaurant had run out of all salads and fish fillets. This effected one person in our party because salad was exactly what they wanted to order. After we gave our orders, the waiter came back about 5 minutes later to let us know that they had now run out of baked potatoes which made us have to think of another side. I ended up ordering the mountain topper which was suppose to be either chopped sirloin or grilled chicken topped with cheese bacon and mushrooms and a light honey mustard sauce. What I got was a chunk of hamburger meat covered in about a pound of cheese and smothered with honey mustard to the point where I had to stop eating. The only reason I give this place a 2 rather than a 1 is because the waiter was nice enough to give us a 10% discount after all the issues. The only reason to ever go to this place is if you are looking for a large serving and are not worries about quality

The food here is much like a Texas Roadhouse, though a tad less decadent. The food is still generally palatable. The service however is not that great. They left out the Bacon on my Bacon Mushroom Swiss burger. I pointed it out to Tommy, the bartender, this afternoon, and he simply said that "they must have ran out", without trying to make it better for me. Tommy still seems friendly and attentive, just doesn't realize he needs to meet his customers needs. Beer selection is not that great here, just the basic pilsners, except for Moose Drool. Don't waste your money, food is not good and the staff are not "go getters" by any means. A few people came in after us and they asked to be seated and the staff told them they were busy and they would have to wait, they could have been a bit more polite about it.

Too bad this restaurant has low quality food. Great location and plenty of out of town people that would like a good steak and shrimp. The place was dirty and nobody to clean the tables, even though there were people waiting to be seated. I'm sure this is not a locals favorite and I wanted to tell the people waiting to go to another restaurant. We threw most of our food out and so did the people at the next table. I'd go to Wendy's. Cheaper and probably better quality.

Stopped here while visiting Dodge city. The portions are huge and the price is pretty low considering all the food you get on your plate. Its a typical American food restaurant but great atmosphere nonetheless. Definitely stop after visiting Front Street!

All in all, not too bad. I sat at the bar, and the bar service was surprisingly slow to begin with. I realize the bartender was busy taking to-go order, but my co-worker and I ordered bottled beers (Moose Drool - yay!) - all she had to do was pop a top! We also ordered an appetizer in addition to our entrees, and about 30 seconds after it arrived, so did my salad. And then about 30 second later, my entree. Usually that doesn't bother me tooooo much, but it all came way to close together. Plus, the dude on the other side of me was totally eyeballing my food. I briefly though I might have to stab him with a fork. On the upside, the croutons on the salad are delish - the mark of a good salad, in my opinion! Otherwise, a word to the wise - some of the entrees are pretty large portions. Maybe skip the appetizer unless you brought an appetite the size of Texas! (Oh, make that Montana.)

Food was delicious. Server Chloe was attentive and genuinely sweet. Atmosphere was relaxing up until the moment that the other servers were yelling in the kitchen, thus their lovely profanity was amplified throughout the restaurant. Chloe is presented in a professional manner, clothes fitting properly and hair pulled behind her head. Other servers are wearing ill fitting clothes, hair messy and in their faces, generally not appealing to a restaurant customer. If we had had any other server I would have insisted on going to Applebee's instead of Montana Mike's. I've been watching how customers on the other side of the restaurant have been ignored by the servers. Management either needs to take a stand or maybe management needs to be overhauled. BUT our experience with Chloe was fantastic.

Went for Bar-B-Q today. Got the chopped brisquet, pulled pork, and chicken breast. The brisquet could have been easily confused with beef jerky that had been immersed in salt. The pulled pork tasted good. The wife ate the chicken breast, and enjoyed it. We sampled their 3 BBQ sauces, and enjoyed each of them.

Decided to stop here while on a business trip and was very happy with the food and the service. Had the Ribeye and Shrimp. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. The only reason it was not a five star is because of the seasoning of the steak. A good steak never needs seasoning.
